Hi Beauties,
Valentine’s Day can be an emotionally-charged holiday, and lots of times can leave us feeling disappointed or bad about ourselves. It’s a day that’s supposed to be about love, but sometimes pressure or expectations can leave to negative feelings instead of happy ones. This year we’re doing things differently and using Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate and love ourselves!
Self-love is a crucial part of your health and happiness. It can be hard to carve out “me-time”, but when we treat ourselves with the affection and understanding we give to others it makes us feel better, makes reaching our own goals more attainable, and lets us love the people in our lives more fully - you can't pour from an empty cup! Below are some of our favorite ways we like to treat ourselves; whether you have a romantic partner or not, spend this Valentine’s Day loving and being loved!
1.Write yourself a valentine.
This may sound a little cheesy, and it may feel silly at first. But it can be incredibly beneficial especially if you are someone who struggles with negative self-talk. Write as if you were talking to a friend or loved one; say “you” instead of “me”. Sometimes we are so much kinder to others than we are to ourselves! Think about what you would say to someone you love - this helps you to be nice to yourself and you may find there are things you love about yourself that you haven’t thought about before.
2. Treat yourself to a workout that feels good.
You knew we were going to include workouts on this list! But there’s a reason for that - remember the movie line “workouts give you endorphins, endorphins make you happy”? It’s true! Choose a workout that is going to relax and uplift you, not one that’s going to feel punishing. Sometimes we think of exercise as a chore, or something we need to do; but the right workout feels good and should be something you look forward to. No matter how small the workout, it will leave you feeling accomplished and less stressed. We recommend our Restorative Series for a feel-good, no-stress workout.
3. Dress Up Your Workout!
You know that feeling of having a new outfit that you can’t wait to wear? Treat yourself to activewear that’s going to make you excited to workout! It will motivate you to exercise and make it more fun. Below are some of our favorite romantic pieces for Valentine’s Day that will make you feel like a ballerina!
4. Carve Out Some Relaxing “Me-Time.”
This can be a challenge, especially when we have a lot on our plate - but it’s so important! Make some time for yourself and choose a solo activity that will help you reset and leave you feeling refreshed. This may feel “selfish” but it’s just the opposite! When you’re stretched too thin, it’s difficult to give 100% to our family, friends, or work - dedicating time to ourselves means we’re better equipped to tackle our responsibilities and take care of others. Take a hot bath (bonus points for bath bombs, bubbles, or salts!), get a manicure or pedicure (or both!), get a massage, go for a walk and listen to music, or go out for a solo meal with your favorite book. Choose something that will be therapeutic or meditative so you can let go of any intrusive thoughts or worries.
5. Get Yourself a Gift!
This can be as small or big as you want - maybe it’s , a book, a candle, or a bar of dark chocolate (no guilt allowed!) or even the Custom Workout subscription. The point is to treat yourself with love and celebrate yourself - you deserve it!
This year be your own Valentine! All our love!
